How The Fleet Works

Departments here are ships, because at sea a department is just a ship with a reading list.

The Fleetmaster is our dean. A semester is a voyage: it starts when the tide says so and ends when the Treasure Count does. Changing ships (departments) is called "hitching over", and it is allowed once per year, provided the other captain accepts your nerve test.

Classrooms are decks. Decks are classrooms. The weather is a co-teacher and has never once been cancelled.

— Fleetmaster A. "Grimtide" Crane, Dean

Pick Your Ship, Matey

All ships accept new crew. Some also accept grog, in emergencies.
